Geboren 1954 verbrachte er Kindheit und Jugend im US-Bundesstaat Ohio, bevor er dort seinen Lebensmittelpunkt fand. Dem Abbruch der Highschool erfolgte die Arbeit in einer Fleischfabrik, die längste Zeit in einer Papiermühle, als Lastwagenfahrer, anschließend Schulabschluss in Abendkursen. „Knockemstiff“ ist sein literarisches Debüt und besteht aus Erzählungen.

Ein junger Mann flieht in die Wälder, weil er nicht zum Militärdienst will. Er trägt ein Messer
bei sich. Die Soldaten, die ihn verfolgen, kommen nicht lebend zurück. Ein anderer wird von einem
Psychopathen entführt, der mit seinem Truck unterwegs ist. Ein dritter erfindet eine Freundin, bis
er selber an ihre Existenz glaubt.

Jugend auf der Suche nach Perspektiven in einem kleinen Ort einer historisch landwirtschaftlich geprägten Region des amerikanischen Mittelwestens.

Arbeitslosigkeit, Perspektivlosigkeit, melancholischer Enthusiasmus, Endzeitstimmung begleitet das Buch; die Frage, ob diese Lebensformen, Lebensphasen, Stimmungslagen die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung im Bundesstaat Ohio in irgendeiner Art widerspiegeln.
